"BRASS IN POCKET is the brainchild of Helen Novak, a London based singer/songwriter, who in 1985 was searching for a vehicle for her distinctive vocal style. While attending a Pretenders show, Helen was struck with an idea that would take eight years and thousands of miles to come to fruition.
In mid-1993 Helen began the audition process in an attempt to find musicians who shared a similar vision and passion for the Pretenders' music. First hired was guitarist Guy White with Dave Leishman on bass, soon followed by Glen Leishman on guitar and Mal Baines on drums. This line-up performed very successfully around the Sydney circuit for over 18 months and has built a following amongst Pretenders fans and those with a great love of rock music of the Eighties.
A change of line-up now complements Helen and Guy with Alan Greatorex on drums, guitarist Robert Tomasevic, bassist Graham King and Michael Italiano on keyboards. This powerful combination of broad experience and skilled musicianship is taking the tradition of BRASS IN POCKET forward to an assured and promising future. BRASS IN POCKET has shown itself to be a popular and successful presentation as both a tribute to The Pretenders and as a strong force in its own right." So there.
